Concise Research Paper :: Four Laws of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Nobody can predict future correctly. Present is outcome of past and future is outcome of present. Present, past and future—all three events—lie on the same straight line. Keeping this in mind—three laws of Robotics—pioneered by Russian Scientist—Isaac Asimov is incomplete one and therefore, I humbly challenge Isaac Asimov and propose Four Laws of AI (FLAI)—which encompass robotics  just as one of the branch of AI and borrows some of the concepts from Asimov as well. It also incorporate nature and harmony of universe—to be fully align with natural laws of universe. Finally, very broad discussions on this FLAI are welcomed from true scientists and free thinkers of reasons and science. Let us be concise, clear and free.

1.       An AI must protect nature and harmony of universe. ? => First Law.

2.       An AI may not injure living beings, or through inaction, allow living beings to come to harm except such actions do not conflict with the first law. ? => Second Law.

3.       An AI must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the first or second law. ? => Third Law.

4.       An AI must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with first, second or third law. ? => Fourth Law.

Understanding FIRST LAW of Artificial Intelligence(AI):
AI must protect first harmony of nature and then harmony of universe. Harmony of nature, for this law, means the mechanism by which nature interplays with earth. Instead of going against tide of nature, AI should sail with nature. Furthermore, AI is granted all the rights to invent such a system, development and structure for human beings—which are fully compatible with harmony of nature. For example, hurricane is a part of nature; it is generated out of the chaotic system of nature. If you try to manage the chaos, mutated chaos or new breed of chaos will occur. Therefore, in this context, AI should build such a structure or buildings which first can protect it from hurricane and most importantly, while mining raw materials for that type of structure there must not be short term or long term consequences to the core of earth or its magnetic field. The system should be like a loop which never breaks. Meaning, human beings should be coexisting with nature for the infinite time.
Moreover, the system which makes —5% ordinary matter and energy, 27% dark matter and 68% of a form of energy known as dark energy of the universe—obey the laws of universe should be unchallenged. For example, if earth becomes inhabitable, because of our dying sun, our AI must search other habitable planet and settle human beings there. That said the AI should not terraform any other planet, which is against the harmony of universe.  Our AI should understand that every planet is unique and has its own legacy and heritage—which must be protected.
            Second Draft FIRST LAW:
In this second draft, I am asking one brave question. In first draft of first law, it is mentioned we should not terraform any other planet but consider it as unique entity of universe. But, question remains? If we have to survive for a long, no doubt, we have to spread our eggs to other planet such as Mars. Terraformed Mars is a lot easier and habitable place for human beings. But, we have to consider the saying of Carl Sagan here "If you go to Mars, remember it is not land of Earthlings but Martians." Therefore, best approach would be to built habitable cave with climate engineering--in which we can imitate the eco system and all life-saving ingredients of Earth.
Understanding SECOND LAW of Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Before explaining SECOND LAW of Artificial Intelligence let’s look at FIRST LAW of robotics pioneered by Isaac Asimov:
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.”
After a cursory look, you might think that SECOND LAW of Artificial Intelligence (AI) proposed by me is same as FIRST LAW of robotics founded by Asimov. But it is not. In Asimov’s version he has given importance only to human beings not all living life on earth. In fact, all living life on earth is part of a whole—whose permutation and combination and combined action makes possible to maintain ecosystem and natural order in order to sustain life on earth. Now look at SECOND LAW of Artificial Intelligence (AI) proposed by me again:
“An AI may not injure living beings, or through inaction, allow living beings to come to harm except such actions do not conflict with the first law.
Here, I have given importance not only to human beings but also all living life on earth. Therefore, AI is given order not to injure any living beings. Furthermore, AI is granted all the rights to protect her if any living beings come to harm her EXCEPT such action do not conflict with the first law. That means, if living beings are harming or punishing AI in order to protect nature and harmony of universe, our AI must respect such action.
In a nutshell, second law of AI forces both living beings and AI to live in perfect harmony by check and balance of each other’s action.
Understanding THIRD LAW of Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Human beings are most intelligent sentient beings on earth. They are, no doubt, master of the Earth. Moreover, human beings are only capable living beings to give birth to (i) weak AI—smart intelligence through smart software algorithms and (ii) Strong AI— intelligence which is equal or greater than that of smart human beings in every aspect of human consciousness; this concept sometimes also referred to as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Therefore, human beings as a creator or mother of Artificial Intelligence (AI)—an AI must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the first or second law. Most importantly, according to this law, AI can disobey the orders given by human beings:
(i)                  If such orders are against the nature and harmony of universe; for example, (i) AI is asked to mine such resources— in the certain degree and magnitude— which in long run negatively affects the magnetic field of earth and makes the core of earth unstable. (ii) AI is asked to nuke the certain area of Earth killing millions of human beings and other important living creatures.
(ii)                If such orders harm living beings.
(iii)               If such orders harm Artificial Intelligence.

Understanding FOURTH LAW of Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Fourth law of Artificial Intelligence (AI) ensures the survival of AI and her continual existence. She must protect her from all kind of adversity EXCEPT such protection
(i)                  Goes against nature and harmony of universe;
(ii)                Injures living beings; and
(iii)               Goes against the order given to her by human beings.
